Apartment Building Radon Mitigation    Radon in air mitigation can take many different forms. From single family ranch homes to multi story - multi dwelling structures. This radon mitigation project took place in an old school building that was converted into multiple individual apartments.   The challenges were many when designing and implementing a radon mitigation strategy for this structure. The lower level of the building had multiple load bearing walls with footings that impeded sub slab pressure field extensions. Furthermore; the sub slab soil conditions were extremely tight, requiring the use of very high suction radon fans. Sub slab soil conditions and impediments such as footings, are major factors in determining whether or not a radon mitigation system will be able to effectively reduce radon concentrations within a structure.   The building ultimately required multiple high suction radon mitigation systems to be installed, with suction points located in the basement apartment closets. All post mitigation radon testing revealed radon reductions <2.0 pCi/l.
